Huge win for all of #AztecNation this week when Jalen McDaniels confirmed he was coming back to The Mesa for his sophomore (RS) season. He was one of the last decisions made from the eligible pool: players who tested the NBA waters without hiring an agent. Literally one of the last guys:
More than 200 underclassmen provisionally entered the 2018 NBA Draft. As of 2:25 pm PT on deadline day, only 12 have not announced whether they are staying in the draft or returning to school. SDSU's Jalen McDaniels is one of them. He has until 8:59 pm PT...— Mark Zeigler (@sdutzeigler) May 30, 2018
To say Aztecs fans everywhere were nervous would be an understatement on par with referring to the NBA referees last night as unsatisfactory.

Dear Jalen McDaniels,— 805WestSports (@805WestSports) May 30, 2018
Stop playing with our hearts and come back to The Mesa. Right f'ing now.
Love, #AztecNation
Jalen got in on the fun himself, stringing us along like HBO does with Game of Thrones:

What in the f*ckin' f*ck is going on here! Before this whole process started I thought for sure he was just doing his due diligence this spring. No doubt he is an NBA talent, and I honestly think he's a lottery pick in 2019, but I thought he could use another year to build up physically and improve his range. But at this point I can't help but think "is he actually going to declare now?"

I'm sure that was HC Brian Dutcher's reaction as well. Losing McDaniels could have changed the season outlook tremendously. Especially since the Martin Twins from Nevada are coming back to school. The Aztecs are going to need Jalen's services to make a legit run at a MWC Title next season. While Nevada will be the favorites coming off of their impressive Sweet 16 run, the Aztecs have lots of experienced talent returning next season.
Lead by my favorite and probably yours: J Boogie
