Seahawk Fans are Dumb AF and Don't Deserve Rashaad Penny

Hi there San Diego. If you are excited about joining Seahawk nation because of their selection of Rashaad Penny, read this before buying some Seahawks gear.

I hate Seahawks' fans. I didn't go out of my way to have this feeling, it just came to be overtime.

With my former allegiance to the Cwords, it makes no logical sense for me to have any resentment to the Seahawks or their fans. Only play them once every four years, and it had be some serious time since they were in the same division in the AFC (2002 for all you 12s).  But the ignoramuses of the northwest just came out in droves once they changed their uniforms to neon colors and won a SB.

I don't read anything on Deadspin as much as I used to, but one of my favorite features they do each year before the NFL season starts is the "Why Your Team Sucks" series. In these posts fans send in their hatred for their own team. The 2017 Seahawks edition was a gem.

Don't just take it from me, even their own fans know their fan base is shit (from link above):

Cam: If you think St. Louis Cardinals fans are bad (they are), then you’ve never seen Seahawks fans bust a collective nut when they raise the 12th Man flag. Pete Carroll still likes Macklemore.

Tim: God bless the Falcons for valiantly taking the Epic Super Bowl Chokejob mantle away from us. Now we get to pretend like Super Bowl 49 never happened. Whatever humility Seahawk fans gained from that experience is now lost forever.... we’re going to be as obnoxious as ever.

Collin: Experiencing the “Twelves” and/or “12th Man” in Seattle has turned me into a Sounders fan. Fuck the Sounders.

Alan: Being a stay at home dad, I take my 3yo with me when I run errands. Last time I had to see my optometrist, I packed him up and off we went. In the exam room, the dumpy, middle aged assistant saw his blue and green shirt and said she liked his Seahawk colors. She got all fired up, talking about how she and her kids bonded over the Super Bowl win engineered by Russell Winston against the Patriots (yeah, seriously) and then looked my boy right in the eye and bellowed “Are ya ready for some Seahawks footbawww little guy?!?!?!?!?” This was in May. Months away from any football. She is the poster child for most Seahawk fans.

Pat: The other day I heard a man boast that he’s been a diehard fan since 2013.

Seth: I decided to visit some friends who moved to Oakland last year and timed my visit with a Mariners - A’s game. It was my first time rooting for the away team and everything was going smoothly until another section of Mariners fans started up a SEA! HAWKS! chant. At a baseball game. In another city. The 12s deserve every bit of the hate they receive and then some.

Will: Speaking of which: notice how I called them the 12s? The team can’t even call them the 12th man anymore because we were too cheap to pay Texas A&M royalty fees anymore. And our fans bought it.

Kevin Patra from Around the NFL dropped these nuggets of info:

"A true rarity is that we had a team call after we selected him and tried to acquire him. I've never experienced that. We feel very blessed tonight," Schneider said Thursday night, via the Seattle Times.

The Seahawks would have taken Penny at No. 18 overall had they not been able to find a trade partner, Schneider said. Seattle ended up moving back nine spots from No. 27 in a trade with the Green Bay Packers, recouping a third-round pick, swapping late-round selections and were still able to snag Penny"

So how about them apples 12s? Not only was Penny coveted by multiple teams in the first round, at least one team wanted to trade for him right after he was selected. The fact that Penny could have gone top 20 would have been ever bigger for him and Aztec Nation.

He's going to do work in Seattle; Wilson is going to love everything he has to offer. Too bad his talents will be wasted on this shitbag team and their shitbag fans.

Sorry Rashaad, you deserve better.
