RP in E Vol. 1 - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

The RP in E (Role Players in Entertainment) blog is dedicated to covering the best role players in the game of entertainment. I'm talking about the Robert Horrys and the Ben Zobrists; the JJ O'Briens, and yes, the Alexi Amaristas. Feel free to comment below some RP in E you would like to see covered.

Foreword
A good role player can push a team over the top to success. They won't carry the team by themselves, but with some rock stars on the team they can compliment very well like some saffron can on your paella (I have never used saffron or made paella but I thought that would sound cool hard af).
Who are the best role players in sports of all time? Who cares, meaningless debate that would be contrived with bias. Some NBA names that stand out to me in my lifetime, are guys like Bruce Bowen, Steve Kerr and Robert Horry.  Utility players in baseball are the same thing. Ben Zobrist, Matt Carpenter, David Eckstein (lol).
But what about in TV's and Movies? No, I am not talking about Dennis Rodman in Double Team .

A good role player in a series can make a huge difference to the quality of that show. For my first post on the subject, I am starting with my favorite TV show ever: IASIP.

Volume 1: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Part 1)

The 12 seasons of IASIP is loaded with RP talent like the Chicago Bulls of the 90s. The total list is simply too much to comprehend for one blog. I could write a dissertation on the subject, so to spare some of your precious life moments I will keep this to a list of five (in 2 posts). There will be several videos for which you will need some volume. So bust out those headphones and tell your boss you're listening to some important voicemails and Karen in the cubicle next to you breathes loud AF so you need some piece and quiet. So in no particular order, here we go.

Liam McPoyle

The leader of the milk-obsessed, creepy, incest practicing McPoyle family. These guys make an appearance or two in each season and they always contribute significantly. Jimmi Simpson absolutely crushes this role as Liam McPoyle, . Some good moments short moments from the series:

From S3 Ep 4 "The Gang Get's Held Hostage." When trying to prove you're not bluffing goes wrong.

From S6 Ep 7 "Who Got Dee Pregnant?" Liam is angry that Mac won't call his sister back after banging her (gross).

From S8 Ep 3 "The Maureen Ponderosa Wedding Massacre" Liam confronts the wedding crashers.

From S10 Ep 10 "The Gang Squashes Their Beef" Liam sporting his new eye patch after losing it during his wedding to Maureen Ponderosa.

Bonus Video: a compilation of McPoyle scenes.

Rickety Cricket

This poor SOB. If you have watched this show all the way through you have to admit that the devolution of Rickety Cricket a.k.a.Matthew Mora (played by David Hornsby - also writes and produces for the show) is damn impressive. Don't take my word for it, if you have the time this will bring you pure joy and laughter:

That catches you up to season 10. In the 2nd to last episode of season 12, Cricket gets his own episode in "A Cricket's Tale" where his dad finds him on the street (literally in a dumpster full of shit, not a bunch of random trash...shit) and gives him a job with his company with the hopes that Cricket and his brother could take over the business. All goes well, and Cricket even meets a woman and is starting to fall in love. Then you realize Cricket had been on PCP the whole episode and that woman was actually a dog.

The Attorney

Brian Unger is the attorney who pops up every once in a while and is absolutely amazing in this role. He is first introduced in season 3 episode 3 in "Dennis and Dee's Mom is Dead" while executing the will of said dead mother: Frank's ex-wife.

The Attorney comes back in multiple instances to give his services (usually for free) to fight against the gang in different ordeals. He seeks out enemies of the gang to prosecute them in cases like when Dennis Gets Divorced, or when the gang tries to exploit the mortgage process. However, sometimes the gang seeks him out for his services:

That will conclude part 1 of the RP in E for IASIP. Part 2 coming soon.
